    • Not when there is water inside the tank! The water helps regulate the temperature and keeps the steel from getting hot.

    • Sun exposure will be a factor and if your tank is in a shaded area, it will be even cooler to the touch.

    • Keep in mind an empty tank in the sun will get hot.

    • Our packages include a 16-inch Waterway Sand Filter that will keep your water filtered and clear.

    • We suggest running your filter for a few hours throughout the day.

    • To keep the water sanitized we recommend a 35% food-grade hydrogen peroxide which has proven health benefits and is a powerful oxidizer so when exposed to sunlight, it eliminates the nutrients that bacteria and algae feed on. Hydrogen Peroxide is already naturally produced by our bodies and its job is to help maintain healthy cell function.

    • If your tank is in the shade, we recommend chlorine. Make sure to use a chlorine dispenser and make sure to never allow any pieces of a chlorine tablet to settle, this will cause rust and corrosion more rapidly.

    • Our package also includes a small pool skimmer net and a mini pool vacuum to help you keep leaves and debris out of your pool. Allowing debris to sit at the bottom of your tank will also cause corrosion much faster.

    • These are made of galvanized steel and intended for use for livestock, so rust is expected because they were not intended to be used with any type of chemicals.

    • Chlorine is harsher than hydrogen peroxide, but should you choose to use Chlorine we highly recommend liquid chlorine

    • DO NOT EVER THROW CHLORINE TABLETS DIRECTLY IN YOUR TANK OR POUR CHLORINE DIRECTLY INTO THE WATER

    • Painting your tank can also cause rust to occur sooner due to the prep process. So keep in mind if you get a paint add-on, it will be at your discretion without warranty.

  • We highly recommend to do your own research prior to our arrival and our use of  Hydrogen Peroxide an alternative to chlorine for sanitizing. We started off using h2O2 from the beginning and haven’t used any other method to sanitize. It is a healthier way to enjoy your pool and is safe for humans as well as plants, animals, flowers, vegetable gardens, grass, ect. Hydrogen peroxide does require UV light to activate the sanitizing features so some sunlight through the day is needed for it to be effective. Through our research we’ve found that the h2O2 levels need to be maintained between 50-70ppm which can be measured with the test strips we provide and show you how to use. Keep in mind that heat breaks down hydrogen peroxide so you may find yourself using a bit more through the summer season. With that in mind, store your h2O2 in a cool dry place so that the effectiveness is not compromised (we store ours in the fridge!) If you ever find yourself wanting to switch to chlorine or any other sort of sanitizing method, either empty your pool and pump and do a fresh fill or make sure the test strip reads white and all the h2O2 has evaporated/diluted.
